Jewish General Hospital (JGH) is one of Canada’s leading hospitals and has been cited by Newsweek as the #1 hospital in Quebec. It has been providing cutting‑edge treatment and compassionate care to patients from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds in Montreal, throughout Quebec and beyond since 1934.
As one of the province’s largest and busiest acute-care hospitals, our 637‑bed McGill University teaching hospital admits more than 23,000 patients a year, while handling at least 300,000 outpatient visits, 95,000 emergency visits and more than 4,000 births on an annual basis.
CIUSSS of West-Central Montreal
Jewish General Hospital (JGH) is the hub of the Integrated Health and Social Services University Network for West-Central Montreal (CIUSSS West-Central Montreal)
The CIUSSS is a partnership of complementary healthcare facilities including JGH, five CLSCs (primary care services, including homecare), five rehabilitation centers, and seven residential centers, covering the entire continuum of care across 34 sites.
Treatment and care are provided by a staff of more than 13,000, including approximately 700 physicians.
As CIUSSS of West Central Montreal and Jewish General Hospital look to the future, our primary objective is to find innovative, efficient and cost‑effective ways of responding to the changing demographics and medical needs of our patients.
With that in mind, we created OROT – Connected Health Innovation Hub.
OROT’s mission
OROT was established to guide our way to the new era of care – a future in which health will be created, managed and restored wherever the patient is – the concept we call: “CARE EVERYWHERE”.
OROT has a broad mission to re-imagine the future of health and to transform the experience of healthcare through an integrated model of research, innovation and implementation that is patient-centric and informed by large-scale data science.
What we do
OROT identifies opportunities, inspires, and accelerates innovation in connected health resulting in impactful and positive change for healthcare systems, providers, and patients.
OROT mobilizes external public and private partners in order to foster partnerships with the Jewish General Hospital and its CIUSSS to innovate, refine, and ultimately bring to reality a variety of products and services, including software and devices.
We approach projects that have the aspiration of research with the speed and ambition of a startup.
OROT’s added value
OROT’s primary strength is understanding the unmet needs and delivering access to end users, clinicians and researchers thereby allowing industry partners to co-create and validate their ideas and/or solutions throughout a healthcare network that covers the entire continuum of care.
OROT facilitates collaboration between healthcare professionals, end users and innovators through the following stages:
- Inquiry and discovery
- Identifying and capturing value
- Co-development, Iterative testing, learning, pivoting, and refining
