OROT, the connected health incubator of the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, is proud to announce a new partnership with Gravity Rehabilitation. This collaboration aims to co-develop a mobility training tool for children who need motorized wheelchairs.
Gravity Rehabilitation is an innovative platform specializing in the design, development, and scientific validation of clinical serious games to effectively support patients in their rehabilitation journey. Through this collaboration, OROT and Gravity Rehabilitation will combine their expertise to create an engaging and playful system using video game technologies. This system will offer child patients various learning scenarios for navigating wheelchairs in complex environments.
“We are delighted to partner with Gravity Rehabilitation to develop innovative solutions that will improve the quality of life for children who need motorized wheelchairs. This partnership is an important step towards our goal of reinventing healthcare and transforming the user experience.” said Danina Kapetanovic, Chief Innovation Officer at CIUSSS CCOMTL and Head of OROT.
The project aims to create a mobility training tool that will enable children to develop autonomy and navigate effectively with motorized wheelchairs. The technology developed by Gravity Rehabilitation has already been validated through research partnerships with renowned institutions such as Alyn Hospital and McGill University.
This strategic partnership will enhance care for children by providing tools tailored to their specific needs. By integrating advanced technological solutions, OROT and Gravity Rehabilitation hope to transform care delivery methods and offer a better quality of life to young patients.
